The pastors and staff of WGBC wish all those celebrating a birthday or anniversary in  January a very blessed day.

Congratulations to Sarah C. on the birth of her daughter, Abriana Faith, born December 19. Abriana weighed 6 lbs 11 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. All are doing well.

On Sunday, January 26, 2014, WGBC will host their Annual Membership Appreciation Banquet. Please fill out the bulletin insert to reserve you meal that day. See Deb J. with any questions.

WGBC welcomes Brian Davis and family as our new bi-vocational youth minister. We will be having an old fashioned food pounding for the family. Please bring non-perishable food items to the bin in the foyer. If you would like to make a financial donation for fresh food items, please mark your offering envelope “Davis Family Food Pounding.”

Year update from the Pastor

I don’t know about you but 2013 was like a roller coaster ride. There were extreme highs and extreme lows. I am sure you have faced a few highs and lows as well and you’re glad the New Year has come.

What will 2014 bring? I have no clue. What I do know is this: God is still in control, He still loves us in Christ and no matter what, He will see us through all of it personally.

What do we need to do? We need to increase our faith in the Lord. That includes growing in our relationship with our Lord through prayer, Bible study, worship, and fellowship. Acts 2:42-47

I can almost guarantee you (I’m not God) that if you do, you will not only see a change but a change that will result in great joy and peace.

Here are several scriptures to get you started on a great new year.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. Romans 8:37-39

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. Hebrews 11:6

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:17

Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:13

Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5:1-2

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthythink about such things. Philippians 4:8

By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. John 13:35

I encourage you live by the Word. Cut these verses out, tape them somewhere, and memorize them, so you will be reminded each day what a great and powerful God we serve.

May our Lord fill our New Year with love, joy, and peace as we follow Him.
